ON STAGE

SPEAKER: ERIC SCHNEIDER

Eric Schneider is a gifted speaker and leader from Lexington, KY where he serves at Southland Christian Church as the Lead Student Pastor. More importantly, he loves Jesus, his wife, Candice and his daughter, Story. Eric grew up in Wichita, KS and is a proud graduate of Manhattan Christian College. Eric has been a student pastor for 12 years and loves investing in middle school and high school students and seeing the impact they can make when they put Jesus at the center of their lives.

Oasis is so thrilled to have Eric with us this year!

WORSHIP

Oasis believes in the power of people gathered together in thoughtful praise and response to God’s word through song and action, and we love having fun with students in the process! We have a band of engaging, high-energy leaders and musicians with a heart for helping students encounter Jesus where they’re at leading music and experiences with our students that is fun, reflective, and powerful for helping students see Jesus and draw near to Him.

2023 THEMe: Eternity

Eternity: Living for what’s bigger…

How often do these words represent how we live our lives:

stuck, overwhelmed, lost, fed-up, uncertain, chaotic

We live with a view of what’s in front of us, and these types of feelings are the result of the never-ending barrage of the now.

Students today know this all too well.

But Jesus has something bigger for us than what’s in the now. ETERNITY. When we bring his promises of eternity into view today, it changes how we live… injects us with purpose, hope, and a way through the chaos of today.

This year’s Oasis Conference will be a time to refocus on Eternity and how to live for what’s bigger.

Colossians 3:1-17

Location - Manhattan, KS

FAQS

Who can come to Oasis?
We plan this event with your high school student specifically in mind. However, any high school or middle school student is welcome here at Oasis and can be fueled and sent in Jesus by coming!

What about adult leaders?
Oasis is a great trip for leaders to build relationships and spiritual moments with students! More than that, we believe your leaders will leave fueled and sent for Jesus as well. We even take time on Saturday morning to pour into your leaders with help from professors and godly leaders from MCC. Bring as many trusted leaders as you can! (for every 5 students, you get 1 free leader registration!)

What paperwork is required?
We ask every student to have a Student Release Form filled out by a parent/guardian that covers medical liability release as well as release of image for use in promotional material. Our partner Manhattan Christian College may also use the information to reach out to high school students in attendance to offer prayer, encouragement, and information about the college (which they can opt out at any point).

What is the schedule like?
The conference goes from Friday night to Saturday just before dinner. Sessions are a great combination of craziness, fun, serious reflection, engaging teaching, and powerful moments of encounter with Jesus. Friday night features check-in, fun, and Session 1. Following that is Late Night at MCC, featuring Silent Disco by Silent Events (more below). Saturday features a morning show and leader meeting, followed by Session 2. Lunch, electives/free time activities then take place (tbd) before coming back together for our final session, session 3.

Did you just say “tournaments?”
Why, yes…. yes I did. This year we will be hosting a flag-football tournament (teams of 8-10) and a super smash bros solo tournament. If you’re not into that, you can still go and watch, or enjoy free donuts, 9 square and gagaball, bingo, or explore the area together.

Where can my group stay Friday night?
Most groups get hotel rooms or reach out to connections they may have for alternative lodging. To make the hotel process easier for you, we’ve connected with the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce to provide you good room rates! Check out our hotel partners here.

What are my Saturday afternoon options?
Lunch together is included in the conference, as well as some great activities on campus of Manhattan Christian College. Free time will include 2 elective breakout sessions at MCC, sports and video game tournaments, and some treats and space for your groups to relax/play on campus. If you want to explore Manhattan during the afternoon time, that’s an awesome group building opportunity! Aggieville has cool coffee/shops and is an easy walk, or you can go visit some sights around town such as Manhattan Hill and the beautiful Kansas State University.

Why didn’t you read my mind and answer my question here?
If telepathy is a spiritual gift, our board is super bummed and borderline angry to have not received it! That said, we’d love to answer any other questions you got! Drop us an email at oasisconf@gmail.com or text our director, Brian Wilde at 3162101197.

What in the world is silent disco?
It’s a blast! We were recently talking to youth pastors who did this with their students, who were then begging them to do it again! Students will have digital headsets on with awesome music (a couple of “channel” options, music hand picked by us so you don’t need to worry about inappropriate music) coming in as loud as each student individually wants, while they bust out their awesome dance moves! We’ve partnered with Silent Events to do this, which you can check them out here.
